Aberdeen stands with Palestine - Nakba Day Protest
Around 500 people from across the North East of Scotland came together outside the Marischal College, the civic centre of Aberdeen, to stand in solidarity with Palestine on Nakba Day.
Speakers from a wide range of activist groups, political parties as well as local Palestinians and individuals wanting to express their anger and solidarity took to the stage. There were numerous calls for divestment and sanctions against Israel, including from politicians.
It was great to see even Robert the Bruce show his support for Palestine:
As we continue to hear on-going reports of Israeli atrocities against Palestinians, we must keep building pressure, from the grassroots, on our politicans and governments.
We need them to speak out not just when the bombs are falling, but also in six months, against the brutal occupation and on-going Nakba in Palestine. We need to see no more government funding for Raytheon and other arms companies supplying the Israeli war machine (as well other despicable regimes around the world). We need to see support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel.
