Protest at RAF Lossiemouth (Nov 5th)– End UK complicity!
SPSC Aberdeen supported an excellent demo today called by SPSC Moray outside Lossiemouth air base demanding that the UK end its complicity in Israel’s war crimes by supporting their military action against Palestinians. It came as almost 10000 Gazans had been killed in Israel’s revenge massacre, with one child murdered every 10 minutes, as the world looks on. Speaker after speaker demanded action to stop Israel’s war crimes and for a #CeaseFireNow
SPSC Aberdeen activist, Karolin, made the following speech:
I am a Palestinian and member of the Aberdeen SPSC.
SPSC condemns the ongoing bombardment of Gaza by Israel and the genocide of Palestinians in the strongest possible terms.
So far countless Palestinian civilians have been killed including thousands of children.
more than 9000 killed in Gaza, 32000 injured, and more than 2000 missing including 1000 children.
3780 children killed in Gaza – one every 10 minutes
42 bombs AND 12 buildings destroyed every hour in Gaza
426 families lost more than 2 family members; 47 families- completely destroyed
Refugee camps, UN run schools and even bakery have been attacked.
There is no justification for the brutal denial of water, food, fuel and medicines which is a war crime under international law. The blockade of Gaza cutting off food, water and humanitarian aid is now impacting massively on civilians and children with mass starvation a very real prospect.
Gaza hospitals are at the brink of collapse - the shortage of electricity is risking the lives of hundreds of babies in incubators and patients in intensive care. 16 hospitals are already out of service. 82 healthcare facilities have been directly attacked, 135 medical staff killed, 25 ambulances destroyed.
Latest reports from Amnesty International say that white phosphorus has been used on civilians, which again is war crime. Assassination of Palestinians, brutal raids and illegal arrests continue relentlessly in the West Bank where Hamas has no control or political representation of any kind.
141 killed, 2214 injured at the hands of Israeli settlers and army in the West Bank
1830 detained, UN human rights office receiving notice of torture and inhumane practice; 2 died in police custody
65-year old killed during a raid in Tulkarem
We know that this is only the latest of a 75-year long series of atrocities and ethnic cleansing efforts perpetrated with impunity against the Palestinian people whose lives are clearly worthless in the eyes of the western governments. Shame on them!
We are highly appalled that the UK government is giving the green light and now even supplying military support to Israel to perpetuate these atrocities against the Palestinians and commit genocide in Gaza; all whilst spreading lies to justify the crimes of the Israeli state. The British state clearly has no intention of redeeming itself from its monstrous colonial crimes.
We call on all people of conscience:
1. to condemn the atrocious Israeli war crimes and to call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and end to the genocide of Palestinians.
2. endorse the Palestinian call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel until it complies with international law. Do so like the people who endorsed the BDS call against Apartheid South Africa and brought it on its knees.
3 Lobby our UK and Scottish parliamentary representatives and local councillors of all parties to condemn unequivocally the bombardment of Gaza, to condemn the genocide, demand an immediate ceasefire and end all forms of complicity with Israel's war crimes.
Lobby the Scottish Government to renew their 2014 call for an arms embargo against Israel.
We are clear that a lasting peace can ONLY be achieved when there is an end to Israel’s Apartheid laws applied towards the Palestinian people and an end to Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine.
There can be no peace without justice.
